Fifty Government and Private Sector Participants Graduate from 25th ECNS

Fifty participants completed the 25th Executive Course on National Security (ECNS) conducted by the National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP).
The five-day ECNS was held from 4 to 8 June 2018 at the NDCP Honor Hall Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
Rear Admiral Roberto Q Estioko AFP (Ret) PhD, MNSA, NDCP President, formally welcomed the participants during the Opening Ceremony on 04 June 2018. In his remarks, he underscored the diversity of participants capturing a cross section of Philippine society.
Undersecretary Cesar B Yano of the Department of National Defense (DND) was the Guest Speaker during the Closing Ceremony on 08 June 2018. Considering the current security environment and the impact of various national security issues, he emphasized the need of the country for bold leaders with vision and united citizens to move forward.
The 50 graduates from the government and private sector join the pool of 1,142 ECNS graduates.
The course featured subject matter experts including Secretary Emmanuel M De Guzman of the Climate Change Commission; Undersecretary Gloria Jumamil-Mercado PhD, MNSA and Assistant Secretary Jonas George S Soriano of the Office of the Cabinet Secretary; Undersecretary Vicente M Agdamag and Director Lorenzo A Clavejo of the National Security Council Secretariat; UP Political Science Professors Maria Ela L Atienza and Dr Aries A Arugay; BGen Cornelio Valencia Jr AFP and Col Efren F Morados PA MNSA of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP); Ms Ma Corina A Reyes of the Department of Foreign Affairs; Dr Rommel C Banlaoi of the Philippine Institute for Political Violence and Terrorism Research (PIPVTR); and, Dr Theresita V Atienza and Prof Charithie B Joaquin of NDCP.
Participants also visited the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office and Operations Center to learn from the city’s best practices.
The NDCP offers the five-day ECNS to provide participants a comprehensive understanding of the concepts, principles, theory and practice of national security, and enhance their skills and competencies in addressing national security issues.
