The National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP) launched today its series of activities in support of the nationwide 18-day campaign to end violence against women.
The annual campaign starts today, November 25 and will last until December 12. The theme is “VAW-free community starts with me”.
NDCP President BGen Archimedes H Viaje AFP (Ret), PhD, MNSA led the kick off ceremony at the Honor Hall.
In his remarks, BGen Viaje said, “Since the Philippine government launched the 18-day campaign in 2006, the College has conducted and actively participated in activities in support of ending violence against women.”
Activities lined up include the launching of the Freedom Board where NDCP personnel and students can write their pledges on how to end violence against women, a forum featuring women who will share their experiences during conflict, a training on gender and development for NDCP personnel, and a social media campaign in support of a VAW-free community.
BGen Viaje said, ”Through these activities, I hope that the NDCP will continue to contribute in creating a VAW-free society for all.”
He further said, “As the government’s academic center for education, training and research on defense and national security, the College strongly believes that an environment with gender equality and free from violence will foster security and development.”
Attending the event were NDCP officials and personnel together with the 65 members of the Master in National Security Administration (MNSA) Regular Course 55.
