NDCP to hold roundtable discussion on the peace process

Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process Hermogenes C Esperon Jr will be the main speaker during the roundtable discussion (RTD) on the peace process between the Government of the Philippines (GRP) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on 21 August 2008, 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP) Honor Hall.
The RTD aims to discuss recent developments on the government’s negotiations with the MILF.
The distinguished panel of reactors includes Newsbreak Editor-in-Chief Marites Vitug, peace advocate Fr Eliseo “Jun” Mercado OMI, Philippine Daily Inquirer columnist Ramon J Farolan, Philippine Council for Islam and Democracy Lead Convenor Amina T Rasul and NDCP Strategic Studies Group Fellow Dr Gaudioso C Sosmeña
A total of 70 participants are expected to attend the RTD. Participants will include representatives from various government agencies, non-governmental organizations and members of the academe and media.
Established on 12 August 1963, the NDCP is the government’s key education institution for training and research on defense and security. Through the Defense Management Institute (DMI), the NDCP undertakes extension programs consisting of short- and medium-term courses, seminars, workshops, conferences, lecture series and forums on national security. Short- courses include the Seminar on Conflict Management and Resolution, Young Leaders Program (YLP) and Project Management Seminar for Executives and Practitioners. Tasked to extend the reach of the College, the DMI is one of the three institutes under the Department of Research and Special Studies (DRSS) headed by Commodore Mariano S Sontillanosa AFP (Ret). |
