The National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP) held the Graduation Ceremony of the National Security Studies Program (NSSP) Class 03 at the Armed Forces of the Philippines Commissioned Officer’s Club (AFPCOC) on 28 July 2022.
A total of 68 senior officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) completed the NSSP. They comprise 26 officers from the Philippine Army, 8 from the Philippine Air Force, 28 from the Philippine Navy, 1 from the Chaplain Service, 1 from the Corps of Professor, 1 from the Dental Service, 1 from the Medical Corps, and 2 from the Judge Advocate General Service.
The event was the first face-to-face graduation ceremony of the NSSP. Due to the pandemic, the graduation ceremonies of the previous classes were held virtually.
During the graduation ceremony, Department of National Defense (DND) Undersecretary Reynaldo B Mapagu, the Undersecretary for Civil, Veterans, and Reserve Affairs, represented the DND Officer-in-Charge (OIC), Undersecretary Jose C Faustino Jr. On behalf of the OIC, Usec Mapagu congratulated the NSSP graduates and emphasized how their journey was a testament to their commitment to self-improvement and preparation for greater responsibilities.
USEC Mapagu also acknowledged the contribution of the College in promoting defense and security education despite the challenges brought about by the pandemic.
Per DND Department Circular Number 16 dated 1 September 2020, the NSSP is a bridging program for AFP officers in the O-6 grade who are qualified to occupy O-7 positions.
