As part of the module on Defense and Security Strategy (NSA 208), the delegation from the National Defense College of the Philippines, led by NDCP President, LtGen Ferdinand Cartujano PAF(Ret), visited the Philippine Air Force headquarters in Pasay City on 27 October 2023.
BGen Pablo E Rustria Jr. welcomed and greeted the NDCP delegation for their field study visit to learn more about the Philippine Air Force’s organization, functions, and capabilities. LtGen Cartujano provided insights into his past experiences and delved into his role in pioneering the conduct of Horizon 1 and 2. The Philippine Air Force also presented Horizon 3 along with its 13 ongoing projects, as well as the enhancements made to Horizon 1 and 2.
This engagement also introduced the Integrated Air Operations Concept (IAOC) which includes the Core Systems Operating Concepts, which highlighted strategic approaches and depth of defensive capabilities. These provided insights into the Philippine Air Force’s duty in close air support activities, combat air patrols, aerial reconnaissance missions, airlift operations, helicopter tactical operations, and aerial humanitarian operations throughout the Philippines.
Field Study Visit is a contemporary educational engagement that promotes an enhanced learning experience. Students will be able to immerse themselves in the mission and duties of our nation’s defense and security institutions, obtaining a complete grasp of the critical roles they play in protecting our country’s security and sovereignty.
