The National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP) and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) discussed best practices in using online platforms for learning on 22 June 2020.
NDCP President BGen Archimedes H Viaje AFP (Ret) PhD MNSA met with a delegation of senior military officers led by LtGen Antonio Ramon A Lim AFP, The Deputy Chief of Staff.
Also present were MGen Adrian D Sanchez Jr AFP, Deputy Chief of Staff for Communication, Electronics and Information Systems Service, J6; MGen Rene F Diaz AFP, Deputy Chief of Staff for Education, Training, and Doctrine, J8; Commodore Rommel Anthony SD Reyes AFP, Commander, Communication Electronics and Information Systems Service of the AFP (CEISSAFP); and BGen Edgard A Arevalo AFP, Chief of the AFP Education Training and Doctrine Command (AFPETDCOM).
The evolving “new normal” has prompted academic institutions to enhance capacity and capability to conduct education and training programs within a safe and secure system.
The College shared its experience and assessment in using an online platform for conducting webinars and internal meetings.
Observing the government policy restricting face-to-face interaction during the quarantine, the College conducted online classes, webinars and virtual organizational meetings.
Recently, the NDCP has partnered with an international defense academic institution to conduct a series of webinars on security issues. The webinars drew more than 100 attendees per session.
Representatives from the College’s Research and Special Studies Division (RSSD), Military and Security Division (MASD) and Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO) also attended the said meeting.
