BGen Rolando G Jungco AFP (Ret), Executive Vice President of the National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP), participated in the Indonesia International Defense Science Seminar (IIDSS).

The IIDSS was held from 10 to 13 July 2018 at the Grand Mercure Kemayoran in Jakarta, Indonesia.
BGen Jungco delivered a presentation entitled “Southeast Asia’s Cooperation for Regional Stability: The Case of Counter-Terrorism Initiatives”.
In his presentation, BGen Jungco discussed major counter-terrorism initiatives of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), as well as intra-ASEAN cooperation to fight extremist groups in the region.
Focusing on the theme “Strengthening Defense Diplomacy to Address Common Security Challenges”, other invited subject matter experts presented lectures based on the six sessions, namely: Session I: Global Diplomacy on Non Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction; Session II: Cracking Down Transnational Organized Crime in the ASEAN Region; Session III: Energy and Natural Resources: Promoting Sustainable Resources Development; Session IV: Terrorism and Separatism Challenges; Session V: Sharing Best Practices and Strategies in Disaster Relief; and Session VI: Media and Information Warfare.
Part of the 4-day seminar was the visit of the participants to the Museum of Indonesia, Pavilion of South Sulawesi, and Pavilion of West Kalimantan to learn the country’s culture and tradition.
Organized by the Indonesia Defense University (IDU), the IIDSS is an annual seminar that focuses on security, stability, and humanity affairs issues and related subjects vis-à-vis defense science.
