The National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP) led by the NDCP President, LtGen Ferdinand M Cartujano PAF (Ret), conducted the National Security and Development Study (NSDS) last 28-30 March 2023. In this year’s NSDS, the members of the Master in National Security Administration (MNSA) Regular Course 58, together with NDCP officials, faculty, and staff, visited select institutions in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Bataan.
Integral to the MNSA program is the conduct of the National Security and Development Study (NSDS).
The annual NSDS provides the students the opportunity to interact with key stakeholders in their focus areas and identify key challenges and prospects for development and national security.
On 28 March 2023, Mr Wilfredo Senadrin of National Power Corporation received the NDCP delegation at Angat Dam. Then, students were split into three groups, some were received by Dr Joel Joseph S. Marciano Jr. Director General of the Philippine Space Agency; Dr. Cynthia P. Saloma, Executive Director of the Philippine Genome Center; Dr. Vicente B. Malano, Administrator of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) and Dr. Esperanza O. Cayanan, Deputy Administrator for Research and Development of the (PAGASA). The NDCP delegation capped off the day at the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) for a briefing and site tour. The students were honored and received by USEC. Frisco S. San Juan Jr. Deputy Chairman of MMDA and BGEN Jose V. Campo (Ret) Assistant General Manager for Planning.
The following day, the students had an integrated briefing at the New Clark City with the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), Clark Development Corporation (CDC), Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC), and the New Clark Government Center (NCGC) Corporation. Ms Michelle San Juan-De Vera, Head of Investment Promotions of BCDA, Ms. Christine Mosuela, Business Development Specialist, Engr. Darwin C. Cunanan, Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) and Vice President for Operations and Business Development New Clark Government Center (NCGC), Vice President Patrick Nicholas David received the members of RC 58. Furthermore, the students visited the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) and had a courtesy call on the Deputy Commander of NOLCOM, COMMO Karl A. Decapia PN. The students also had the opportunity to visit the AFP Peacekeeping Operations Center (AFPPKOC) and the delegation was received by Col. Francisco R. Godoy, Jr. PAF (MNSA) Commander, AFPPKOC. Lastly, on the third and last day, the students visited the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant and were met and received by Mr. Dante Caraos, Division Manager of Bataan Nuclear Power Plant.
