The National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP) conducted the Strategic Planning Workshop which is divided into two parts to identify the requirements to fulfill its mandate, review the mission and vision statement, discuss organizational challenges and issues, and improve its performance based on relevant laws. The first part is the Pre-Strategic Planning Workshop which was conducted from 17 to 18 August 2022 at the NDCP Honor Hall, and the second is the Strategic Planning Workshop which was held from 8 to 10 September 2022 at the Timberland Highland Resort, San Mateo, Rizal.
The workshop convened members of the Executive Committee, Management Committee, core faculty, and other concerned personnel. It was facilitated by the Project Team, led by Atty. Patrick M. Velez, MNSA, Chief Executive Officer of CAPS Consulting, and resource persons Director Christine June P. Cariño, MNSA of the Department of National Defense (DND), and Atty. Raymond L. Mitra of the Philippine Aerospace Development Corporation (PADC).
The first phase of the workshop contributed to describing the environment in which the company is operating, determining a new strategic direction, and identifying the stakeholders. Meanwhile, the workshop’s second part intended to effectively present policy proposals in addressing emerging trends, as well as how to make these proposals actionable.
In his introductory remarks on 17 August 2022, Mr. Aldrin C. Cuña, MNSA, Executive Vice President, highlighted the importance of a free and honest exchange of inputs and ideas as it is the first comprehensive Strategic Planning Workshop that will be conducted by the NDCP.
During the closing ceremony on 10 September 2022, Atty. Velez, MNSA, presented and handed over the draft strategic plan to the NDCP President. He also discussed the procedures undertaken in crafting the proposed new mission and vision statement.
In his concluding remarks, NDCP President Lt Gen Ferdinand M. Cartujano PAF (Ret), emphasized self-development, institutionalization, and expansion as the key enablers of the strategic plan. He also encouraged the participants to implement, monitor, and evaluate the approved plans to modify and improve the future of NDCP. He also commended the project team and resource persons for the successful conduct of the 5-day Strategic Planning Workshop.
