The National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP) welcomed seventy-eight (78) students of the National Security Studies Program (NSSP) Class 05 on 23 August 2023 at the NDCP Auditorium.
The NSSP Class-05 comprises 49 students from the Philippine Army, 3 from the Philippine Air Force, 15 from the Philippine Navy, and 11 from the Technical and Administrative Service.
In the message of the NDCP President to NSSP Class-05, LtGen Ferdinand M Cartujano PAF (Ret), he urged the students to be diligent in the short period of time since what they will learn in the program is crucial in their leadership journeys. They will encounter many challenges and mishaps along the way, but he hoped that they will never forget their greater purpose.
Per DND Department Circular Number 261 dated 30 June 2023, the NSSP is a 12-week bridging program for the officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) in the O-6 grade who are qualified to occupy O-7 positions. It is intended to equip senior military officers to become the AFP’s national security specialists and strategic leaders. The program is delivered through discussions with experts and practitioners who possess a wide range of experiences, as well as theoretical and practical knowledge of national security. The NSSP also enhances the students’ professional network and strengthens decision-making skills.
