The National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP), through the Philippine Center of Excellence in Defense, Development, and Security (PCEDS), has hosted a senior leaders’ briefing on the 20th China Party Congress and its possible implications for Cross-Strait relations and regional security.
Under the Security Lounge for National Security Administrators platform, the activity, held on 9 November 2022 at the NDCP Multi-Purpose Hall and via Cisco Webex, provided an avenue for senior leaders of the Department of National Defense and Armed Forces of the Philippines to delve into significant developments in the 20th National Congress of the CCP.
Prof Jean-Pierre Cabestan of the Hong Kong Baptist University focused on the Cross-Strait relations under Xi Jinping’s third term while Dr Aaron Jed Rabena of the Asia-Pacific Pathways to Progress Foundation Inc. tackled the expectations in the West Philippine Sea.
Capping off the roundtable discussion, LtGen Ferdinand M Cartujano PAF(Ret), President of the NDCP, said the PCEDS-led activity emphasizes the importance of recognizing the nexus between theory and practice, as well as research and action.
