The Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Logistics (OJ4) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has partnered with the Philippine Center of Excellence in Defense, Development, and Security (PCEDS) of the National Defense College of the Philippines (NDCP) for a research seminar to prepare its personnel for OJ4’s annual AFP Logistics Officers Forum scheduled later this year. Held from 17 to 21 July 2023 at the NDCP Multi-Purpose Hall and via Zoom, the activity provided military logistics personnel with the foundational skills to produce policy-relevant research projects.
The Center tapped several members of the academe to serve as lecturers: Ms Lorna Israel of Miriam College, Ms Mitch Abdon, MNSA, of the World Bank, and Dr Sherwin Ona of De La Salle University.
Two of the NDCP’s core faculty also delivered lectures during the week-long activity: Mr Rej Torrecampo, Associate Professor I and Director of PCEDS; and Mr Robert Joseph Medillo, Associate Professor II.
In his closing remarks, LtGen Ferdinand M Cartujano PAF(Ret), President of the NDCP, said the research seminar underscores the NDCP’s commitment to ensuring that members of the defense and security sector are well-equipped and updated with the current research methodologies and trends. “It is our sincere hope that this program leaves a positive impact on your careers as active personnel within the armed forces,” the President added.
Nearly 60 individuals from various units of the AFP participated in the activity.
